BUT this youngster is the new mini monster around here. Spends most of the day terrorizing the birds and other squirrels, quite fun to watch.

what beautiful bokeh and sharp, sharp detail! How do you get that kind of bokeh with f/8??? Is it because it's such a long focal length? Were you using a telextender?

Thanks folks. I was so pleased with the light and other elements of this shot I just couldn't give it up even tho' bird is missing 'parts'.

I seem to have fallen behind in viewing your DP photos...they're all wonderful. The mockingbird is fabulous...doesn't need the tail for me. His sharp eye just pulls you in and you forget about the rest of the body. The bokeh is wonderful too...as always :-)

Who needs a tail when you have such incredible detail and bokeh?

ha, what tail ! hey, this looks great, you have the wonderful eye and some whiskers !!

And it's got no feets too. But it works. More of the tail wouldn't make this shot any better, because it's already frickin' great. Super, super bokeh. How'd you do that? The foreground is blurred as well.

Forgot to mention the bokeh is wonderful. So much detail on the face it looks like he/she might need to tweeze a couple hairs on the upper beak?

    Nice detail on his face.
