Getting the 'bird' from a Bird.
Long rather hysterical story here, but I digress.
Underexposed so the noise bandit strikes again.
This is a local bird not one from the platforms
Couple more shots below
This shot has the most wing blur and noise of the series..But I like it the best, must be the eye contact:-) As a group of Swallows flew around she (assuming a she) just kept turning and flapping her wings..Air traffic control, very fun to watch. More below (3 shots)
Yeehaw! Don and I going to the store,Don says don't forget the camera and we'll swing by the WL's, steady rain...Pull in a low and behold we have a Wood Duck pair that looks to have decided to take up residence. Took some from the car window (from meaning window down), needed closer so got out, rain is a minor inconvenience:-)

Now for some good light to have another go at them.
  • March 28th
Not real sure about this one:-) I do think there is something sorta silly about a crow standing in wildflowers.

Slamming the door wasn't an issue the bird was in flight, it was getting out before he went bye, bye. So 20' out and 7 off the ground was flying, we were parked in a parking lot at the lake camera was not in hand, but close:-)

The bird hangs in a tree about 300' out where the car was and Don had just tramped all over to get to the tree, bird lofted and went off into the sunset. Fools errand the boy went on so he went alone. Don was back at the car getting mud off his shoes when I glanced out the window and here bird came. Don never got a shot off either time, ohoo he was not happy.

I'd bet we all have been there where the brain and the eyeballs just don't connect...the eyes are saying "look at that big bird...cool!" and then the brain suddenly kicks in and realizes that there is a camera in hand and it should be pointed at that birdie 20' away!! Just wanted to know...did you slam the car door?? lol! Loved your story...thanks for sharing!

Yup, I can imagine it all right. Jim wouldn't have stopped the car though. Great shot on the fly, so to speak, and he is laughing at you.

    on April 12, 2007

Well if I would have still been standing outside the car instead of being in the car ready to leave..he came in at 20' from the car and about 7' off the ground, but nooo and it took my brain a couple seconds to register as in oh lookie biggie bird..and me then get out of the car or dive/bail out of the car. Don, well poor Don.....:-) Bird was smirking.
