This is just about Don's favorite person. David is a long time propagator of unusual and dwarf conifers, all around great guy as well. He always has new, or potentially new, unnamed conifers that won't be in circulation for years if ever.
So on one of the nastiest days of the year Don decides he needs a conifer fix and off we go. That little pile of stuff David is standing over is Don's haul for the day, a light one I might add:-) I also had to get a couple goodies, so in that mess is a Ginkgo called Munchkin, only gets about 2' tall and a J Maple not often found in cultivation. Just to give you and idea Don can spend darn near what a chunk of good Canon glass costs and fit it all in the Jeep w/o even putting the back seats down:-)

on October 24, 2006As we discussed earlier, changing direction and shooting (photos ..lol) of people is not easy. I think you did a very nice job with the composition and I especially like Dave's glasses half way down his nose! We all need our fixes now and again...glad you're both happily out digging more holes :-)

on October 23, 2006ROFL! Don looks like an axe murderer when he smiles for a camera? Jim does too! It's kind of unnerving. This is a great shot by the way, very real and gives you a sense of who the guy is.

on October 23, 2006Thanks G but that is David, Don's conifer guy. I did get a shot of Don and Dave together but as usual Don looks like he is about to commit a murder, he said he was trying to smile....Sad very sad

on October 23, 2006Cool! I love seeing my people! And you made him "real" to me. That is 5 stars in my book. Maybe not arty, but does what it is supposed to. ginger
