Just think of this as a conifers impersonation of a fireworks display:-)

Ok not the best BIF shot, but it is a kingfisher in flight, I'll take it!

New gallery with just WL (wetlands) shots and more kingfisher. I actually got a good shot of him setting on a wire.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program..

Mallard pair on a muskrat den.

I was told last summer we had a wetlands in the village. Knowing our village I figured a mud puddle and a couple cat tails. Oh how wrong could I have been?! Not large but it is protected and extremely nice.

Ornamental grass in evening light.
As a few of you know I'm having some off and on equipment issues, posting may be spotty for a few days.
  • Dec 16th

Driving around looking for what ever, Don says 'deer always come out of that woods about dusk'. As if by magic there they were:-)
These guys were about 200-250 yards out so a real stretch, shutter was 1/80. Luck is a wonderful thing.

Like this shot, maybe just because I like the houses. Both are the style one would see more in NO, tall and narrow with balconies on both floors, tall narrow windows. Really cool. Why they are built where they are is just nuts.

Did actually get a shot of a sq in motion that didn't blur, which I like.
Late yesterday went to practice BIF shots, Vandana has her geese, I use gulls:-) Nothing special here except it looks like a much nicer place that is really is.

Kurt EC is Exposure Compensation, which getting it right is how you get the detail in that lighting..Also crossing fingers and toes helps:-) I don't often get it so the bird is lit up and I keep the blue sky. One of the reasons I was pretty happy with the shot even tho' I have some nits about it.

    Thanks folks!

I'm amazed you could pull out so much detail in that lighting. By the way, what's EC .. you've mentioned it a couple of times.

Ginger, our red-tails don't fish (you must be thinking of Ospreys). Frankly, I like seeing him without a dead gopher in his beak. Nice exposure Thusie...I could use your help learning to set the EC.

This looks good to me. Don't you hate it when they peel off away from you just when you thing you're going to get a head-on shot? Still, this is tack sharp and perfectly exposed; so the model was a bit touchy; he'll come around again.
