Since the biggie trees aren't really doing much, here is one of the jewels of fall, Japaneses Maple Ukigumo. One of my favs and if you hold your mouth just right, in spring it flushes with white leaves with hints of pink and green.

Sigh..Odd shot, like it anyway. Yea I have weird tastes sometimes.

Tough shot. This guy was up inside our one big blue spruce, lots of odd light filtering in. Also the first time I have successfully handheld the 400 at 1/80. Not something I try to do just turned out that way:-)

This shot is one Don and I both liked, same sq different angle. Sort of a sq art shot.
Yeash! Attempted to move this shot from one galery to this one last night. It got lost. So this AM uploaded from the computer and both shots show up..Yeash again.
Tornado flattened some houses not all that far from here yesterday evening as a very nasty line of storms came roaring through. Except, as often happens, the system split just before it got here (we got some rain, thunder etc.) and then joined back up east of us. I have been told it has to do with the thermals from the HUGE lake 2 miles away?? Sometimes this is good sometimes bad, last night it was good.
The not so bright juvie Coop was back today so took advantage of it.
Do wish part of him wasn't in shadow, no way around it. This was after he escaped the back yard and the very ticked off mom squirrels that were wanting to rip his face off:-)
Staring into one of the pre-release pens below.
Late on this, bit under the weather and I fell asleep:-) First shot at one of these guys and it is a pretty big crop. The fence on the right is something you see quite a bit of this time of year at Dawes.

That party is over for the flowers.:-) Winter, 'the quiet time', is when Don's conifers, in all sizes, shapes ad colors, come into their own.

the velvet texture Gail is probably from the slickness of the rain on the leaves.

    on October 18, 2006

forgot to mention that the leaves almost look they have a velvety texture on my monitor. Everything must be in focus for you Nonda beacause you have such a beautiful imagination when you photograph...peace again, gail

look at the bright side: the blooms and leaves soon will be no longer hiding the lovely skeletons...

  • gail

    on October 18, 2006

Nope, party is not over, we are just gonna have another kind of party with snow!!!I love all the seasons.
YOU CAN'T DEPEND ON YOUR EYES WHEN YOUR IMAGINATION IS OUT OF FOCUS. Peace, gail
