This is a fitting shot for the day, good thing since it is the ONLY shot of the day.

To make a long story short, last night a bunch of thumping around inside the clothes dryer. Don said "it's a mouse" OooKy sounds like a pretty big mouse to me. This morning the same thumping around and then a swack thump in the basement..aha the dryer vent just came off the dryer, bingo, what was in the dryer is now in the basement. Dryer vents down and then though a bit of the basement to the outside. Suer enough when I checked the vent was off. Don gets home goes to take a look and yep an adult Bun had somehow got into the vent pipe and once in was pretty committed to going forward.. netted Bun and outside he went, this shot is of a youngster I saw shortly after.

Oh as Don was fixing the part that is on the outside of the house (flap had jammed open) a chipmunk jumped out of that end at him.:-)

The day started out gloomy and went downhill, rain, lots of rain,
been a bit uninspired as well, nothing really jumping out, just blah.

A trip down to the garage to get some stuff out of the car and there she was in the window, the back lighting from outside making her almost a shadow. She was grooming herself after being in the rain. I ran back up to the house and grabbed the camera, figured she would be gone when I got back. She wasn't.

This is a bit different from the norm, her eye so big, fur rather fluffy from the grooming, the darkness and light.

Yea I like this:-) Oh and it looks much better full screen

Apologize for two sq shots on for the same day.

A couple weeks ago a friend and fellow photog challenged me to get a squirrel shot with just the head and front feet in focus and really blur out the rest. Not too terribly hard, not real easy either, as long as they are face down so you have a flat surface, nose at you it gets a bit interesting.

So with a bit of time between rains I started on this mission, quite hit or miss so far and this shot isn't what I'm after quiet yet, past the head isn't blurred enough and not straight on, nose a bit out. Liked the BG and the color tho':-)

More blurred sqs here and plenty for a sq fix
Almost didn't happen. Using the 200 at f2.8 and ISO 800 and still only 1/60 shutter speed. So when it is an almost, it is a squirrel shot:-)
  • Aug 25th

Nope not mine, Don's. He wishes it was better but is still pretty pleased with it. I think he did just great, IOS 1600 and shutter at 1/500. So for the guy that make the money that buys my toys..POTD
Here is the other shot
What can I say? Had trucked down to the back of the property where Don was cutting up some limbs, here comes the Coopers so I truck all the way back up to the house to get the camera. Why didn't I take the camera with me in the first place? One of those questions that will forever remain a mystery. As was to be expected when I got back the Coop had flown the coup. After walking back down there I was going to get a shot of something...

So instead of a hawk we have The 400 Does Flowers.

Early morning play.

Spent about 30 minutes trying to get a close up of a ground wasp as it was excavating a hole, blah!
Under a tree ,of course, and it was never still for a second, no shutter speed. Will try again tomorrow.

So you get a squirrel shot from this morning:-)

Snappy I would have never thought an adult bun could get in the little vent cap thing on the outside of the house much less clear up the 4" dryer vent pipe!

    Thanks Ladies

Nice shot. Neat story. I'd better get out there and check my dryer vent. We've got a pack rat under the deck again. He keeps piling up stuff on the deck next to the house. There is a little space between the deck and the house where he goes in. He had a little row of green peaches there yesterday.

Mom4, your correct the color was a bit off, corrected that this Am, more believeable now?;-)
Rat crossed my mind, I would have been GONE until it was.

Rick was was quite relieved that the Bun didn't get freaked and I'm a pretty fair hand with a capture net so that went very smooth. Bun started eating as soon as he/she was released. However this little guy, I always shoot wilds in bursts of 3, went postal as soon a he heard the thawack of the 20D shutter:)) Below frame 2, frame 3 nothin but grass.

What a great story, I'm cracking up! At least it was something cute! Here in California it would probably turn out to be a roof rat, or something nasty like that. I was bad...didn't shoot at all today. (Didn't take a lunch hour either!)
